along with my really hot hubby. Well I won't really be running along side him or anything.
By the time I finish the marathon he will have finished his marathon, showered,
had a couple of meals, drank a few beers and lots of other stuff.
I have never been to interested in speed...finishing is my goal.
With this being my first marathon my goal is to finish before the 7 hour cut off time.
If it takes me 419 minutes and 60 seconds I will be so super thrilled that I accomplished that!!!
And another member of our family will enter the world of running.
Xander has taken an interest in running. He has been "training" for about three weeks now.
He is really excited about it. He will run at least 25 miles over the next few months
and then finish the final 2k of the marathon at the Mickelson Trail the day before Steve and I run. AWESOME!! So proud of him!
I LIVE in yoga and running clothes - 96.4% of the time and that number may be low.
The old gear wasn't looking too pretty so I may or may not have purchased $8641.23
worth of new gear from Sierra Trading Post. I didn't say I spent that much but it was worth
at least that much! Seriosuly do you all shop here??? If not your CRAZY - CRAZY I tell ya.
The bargains are unbelievable. (They are offering an addition 20% off orders over $100.00.
Coupon code: SITETHUR112) My new gear consists of Columbia, Mountain Hardware,
Royal Robbins, SmartWool, J-41. And not one thing was over $40.00!
In fact $40.00 was the most expensive item and I cringed a little...most things were 12 - $30.00!
Even then shoes! Score. Now I am comfortable but at least I look somewhat put together!
Hey I said somewhat. And now I am even a runner again so I have an excuse - right???
Now I just need to work on getting back into Yoga. Which reminds me....
Dear Gillette,
Please offer mid-morning yoga classes for people like me. I do not like Zumba...well let me re-phrase...my body can't move like is required in Zumba. And I am not looking for spinning
or cardio fit right now. So please a 9:00 am yoga class would be awesome!!! And I'm not a senior or a kid - so those don't qualify. Thank you.
Sincerely, Desperately Seeking Yoga Classes
Hmmmm...what else can I bore you to numbness with....let's see here...

OK that's it!! That is all I've got...gotta get back to watching some Pretty Little Liars
and perhaps drool over Ezra!!! And scrapbook, of course!! Have a BEAUTIFUL Thursday!
Today was the American Lung Association Corporate Cup. It was a nice cool morning - it misted a bit - but it wasn't unpleasant at all. The positive vibes at this run are just awesome. Glad I ran! Don't know my official time yet - but I was pleased with how I ran. :)
Not the most awesome photos - but proof that I finished my second 1/2 marathon this past Sunday (May 2nd). My official chip time was 2 hours 52 minutes and 26 seconds! I didn't prepare NEARLY enough for this run - like I hadn't ran in over a month and then I went out and ran a half marathon. I was able to run the first 11 miles and then had to walk/run the last 2 miles. But hey I finished - and I ran a lot more than I thought I would be able to. I have been pretty stiff - but today was a good day - still not feeling up to running - but give me another week and I should be ok. :)
If you live anywhere around the Lincoln area you really should consider running this run - the crowd support is just phenomenal. I have only ran this course so I don't really know how it compares to others - but it was an awesome first run for me and another awesome 2nd run!!!
Steve ran the full marathon - yeah he is a stud - I think it's just awesome that he is able to run it. His official chip time was 3:56:11. Go Steve!!! Action Sports International - Me
Oh so not a flattering photo. I began my training on Tuesday - training for my second half marathon. I haven't ran since October - not even a run to the mail box. I am running a half marathon the first weekend in May. I may be crazy.
The first run was brutal. I ran a hilly trek through our neighborhood - ok there are only like 3 hills - but they seemed like mountains to me. But I did it - my first run in 5 months was a hilly 3.3 mile run. Was it fast? Nope! Those 3.3 miles took me 37 minutes. That's ok - it gives me room to improve. And really just being out there again was what it was all about. I time myself for curiosity - I don't care how long it takes just as long as I do it.
Even though it was brutally hard at points - I forgot how great running is. It is my time to re-center. I dump the negative thoughts. I count my blessings - I have so much to be thankful for. I let all the wonderful possibilities in. What a wonderful stress reliever it is. So I say hello running - I've missed you.
3.3 miles down - only 9.8 to go.
Are you running? Want to share your training tips or stories or mental status while running? :) I'd love to hear!
Some great photos before the run - Ivan looks cold!
During the run: look at those views!! So beautiful!
Even took a quick break for a photo with his dad - who made the trip down. Him being there meant a lot to Steve. I am so glad Steve's mom and dad walked up a ways so they could cheer him through and to snap some photos of him running. He looks great - a little tired - hence the "wild eyes".
And he is off again - almost to the finish line.
Relaxing after the 11 hours and 41 minutes of running.
He had a big cheering section this year. Me and the boys, both his mom and his dad, my mom and dad, my uncle Jeff, Itchy and Kayleen, Mary and the boys. It was a great day spent at the park - I think he was happy to see us all at the finish line!! WAY TO GO STEVE!!!!
The damage - a pretty bruised cankle - from rolling his ankle - twice. But he is running already - so they are getting better.
He did it again! Woohoo! What a stud to commit to the training and then run 50 miles and a hard 50 miles for 11 hours and 41 mintues! He rolled his ankle a couple times and is sportin one heck of a cankle. He's a little stiff and sore but otherwise he feels good. I am so proud of you Steve!
Steve ran a 12K Trail Run at Platte River this past weekend. It's a beautiful place to be - a pretty difficult run - but he knew what to expect - he trains a bit out there. Good turn out - good runners. His time was 1:12:31 He amazes me!
The above photos were taken off ofthe team nebraska flickr page. below are mine.
It's been 2 weeks since I posted. What a bad blogger I am. I promise to get caught up. I have a ton of photos from our wonderful christmas break. I was sick over New Years - you'll be glad to hear I have no photos of that. I also have a few scrapbook pages to post as well. The kids go back to school tomarrow :( I am actually sad I really enjoy having us all home together. Anywho...it'll do us all some good to be back into a routine and I need to join the gym so I can start running - I AM gonna run a FULL marathon in May and my first trail run in June - so I NEED need need to get to training. Anyone wanna join me???? I hope you are all having a wonderful start in 2009 - I know we are and very excited about EMBRACING what the new year brings us.
Steve ran the Bohemian Alps Half Marathon yesterday in Brainard, Nebraska and the boys ran a 1 mile Fun Run. They all had lots of fun. What a beautiful little community! I could handle living there. Only an hour from Omaha - and a much slower pace - which I like. Anyways - Steve loved the route. And the boys enjoyed the walk/run!!! I was so proud of them!
