We Made Pottery

A few weeks ago we went in to the one of the coolest places in Omaha - The Art Mill and got busy making pottery! All three kids and me. Such fun. We rolled out the clay and used slump molds to get the basic shape we wanted and then decorated as we saw fit. Then about a week later we went back in and glazed. And yesterday (about another week later) I picked up these beauties. I think they are all GORGEOUS. The kids did a great job - and they enjoyed themselves.

Here is mine:

Here is Maceys:

Here is Xanders:

And here is Connors:

If you live in Omaha - you really should go visit Jane at The Art Mill she has an assortment of classes offered or open studio for your different needs - you just pay as you go. I think it would be great fun to get a few women together for a pottery night - so if you are interested let me know - I could get us on the books.

I still have three pounds of clay left - I am going to be stingy and save it ALL for me - I have got some ideas brewing that I am really looking forward to.

A Beautiful Life

I have to say this is probably one of the most undesirable summers I have ever had. I know what a way to start a post. But really I have been in a terrible funk - missing friends and family back home - wishing I had more friends here. Trying to figure out what "job" I am supposed to be doing. Wishing I had the courage to present my jewelry to galleries and shops. I so DESPERATLEY want it - but to try and sell myself - which I would be doing since sooooo much of me goes into each piece - it makes me shake in my boots. Pathetically I have been feeling SOOOOO sorry for myself - and poor Steve and the kids feel it. They probably don't like me too much right now, I don't like me too much right now.
So last night as I was feeling sorry for myself yet again it struck me - if this is one of the most undesirable summers I have ever had - I should be jumping up and down thanking God - thanking my lucky stars that this is what I consider bad! We are so blessed - I am so blessed - I have a wonderful husband and three wonderful children, Steve has a wonderful job, we have our health, we have lots of family and friends to miss, we have a beautiful home, air conditioned days, food on the table, clothes on our back, and creative talents to busy our hands. Soooo.....I am going to climb out of this fog - I am going to STOP whining and feeling sorry for myself - I am going to STOP focusing on why I might be sad and remember:
JUST HOW BEAUTIFUL THIS LIFE IS!!!!

Her skirts are my favorite! They are so sweet - and look so comfortable - and the price is great - I really do need to order one!

Her blog is full of beautiful vintage finds and she dresses amazingly :) I commented on her blog out of the blue to see where she shops - I know tacky!!! But she always looks so darn cute in her photos. She was sweet enough to reply to my post - so she really is sweet too.

Anywho....go check it out - maybe you'll win.

Inspiring?

From One Minute Writer today's prompt is inspiring - what is inspiring you?

I am looking for inspiration - I am in need of the kind of inspiration that will lead me to be content - that leads me to some sort of financial peace - that will give me creative joy. I know it's there - I just can't reach it yet. I am sort of wondering aimlessly - or maybe wondering with aim - just not sure what the aim is.

13 years

13 years we have made it - 13 years - July 13th, 1996 we said our vows. Oh those first years were painful. I am sorry but they were! Trying to figure out how to live with another person - even if you LOVE them - well it's difficult. Marriage is tough. But it's beautiful - you bend and learn and grow - and it gets easier and then hard and then easier again....bottom line I love this man! Thank you Steve for these 13 years.

So how did we celebrate - by going to dinner at Cheeseburgers in Paradise and to Transformers 2 of course! And it was such a great show. Love Transformers!!!!! I sort of love Shia LaBeouf too - but Steve knows so were all good. It was a good way to spend our anniversary.

Color Inspiration Friday!

I remembered!

Loving the gray with the green on this. I just ordered some wonderful faceted labradorite teardrops and some faceted green opal rondelles. I must try the two together.

Also I have a few matte teal fire agate rounds left over from my Gracie set - they too would look beautiful with the labradorite.

Fun to think of the possibilities. What do you see?

Have a great weekend everyone!
