Sunday's Sketch

Feeling Scrappy

Jayne at Feeling Scrappy asked if I wanted to do a sketch for their readers.  What an honor!  I love Feeling Scrappy!  Check it out.

This was one of the layouts I made using the sketch:

If you post a layout using the sketch to their facebook page by March 19th you will be entered into a drawing for 1/2 off Sketchapalooza 6.  How fun!  By the way Jayne's classes are fantastic and their new design team is wonderful - you really must check them out!
Good luck - can't wait to see your pages!

One of the coolest things ever!!!

Have you ever heard of 500 Pencils?

Oh my!  We need this for our studio - no doubt there!  I love the thought and design.  They are colored pencils and with the cases they are a work of art.  Brilliant!  My Xander will love these - who wouldn't want to use colored pencils when they are out all the time.  And SO MANY COLORS!!!!  LOVE!!!

I just recently stumbled across a magazine.  A magazine dedicated to inspiration for the central coast - which I live NO WHERE near - but it is just so beautifully created. You must go check out:
Live Artfully
The name alone sounds wonderful.

Just had to share - enjoy!

Begin again

Oh so not a flattering photo.  I began my training on Tuesday - training for my second half marathon.  I haven't ran since October - not even a run to the mail box.  I am running a half marathon the first weekend in May.  I may be crazy.
The first run was brutal.  I ran a hilly trek through our neighborhood - ok there are only like 3 hills - but they seemed like mountains to me.  But I did it - my first run in 5 months was a hilly 3.3 mile run.  Was it fast?  Nope!  Those 3.3 miles took me 37 minutes.  That's ok - it gives me room to improve.  And really just being out there again was what it was all about.  I time myself for curiosity - I don't care how long it takes just as long as I do it.
Even though it was brutally hard at points - I forgot how great running is.  It is my time to re-center.  I dump the negative thoughts.  I count my blessings - I have so much to be thankful for.  I let all the wonderful possibilities in.  What a wonderful stress reliever it is.  So I say hello running - I've missed you.

3.3 miles down - only 9.8 to go.

Are you running?  Want to share your training tips or stories or mental status while running? :)  I'd love to hear!

Such talent

Art Swap update:

I received Becky's beautiful FRESH green felted hat - it is so wonderful!

Joleyn will be swapping one of her gorgeous prints.

I will be swapping a bracelet called A Reminder:

The ball has a sweet little chime in it - so I call it - A Reminder - to remind you of just how blessed you are.

There is still time to join in - as you can see these are really beautiful pieces of art.

I am reposting the details below:

I was thinking AGAIN that we should do an ART SWAP.....would I have any takers????  I might just keep reposting this until I get some takers because I think this could be fabulous!  We could go with a theme and then crafters/artists of all media could participate - knitters, crocheters, jewelry designers, poets, photographers, paper artists, quilters, sewers, etc. etc.  Heck even if I had one taker that would be enough - we could trade.  It would just be great fun to see what others are creating.
How about a THEME of FRESH.  Whatever fresh means to you.

It's the 25th today - comment and let me know if you are interested.
DUE DATE: March 18th (which means they need to be in my hands by the 18th - sent out using PRIORITY MAIL by the 15th of March)
All items will be swapped and sent back out by the 23rd.
Ok the nitty gritty details - BEST WORK ONLY - and I am sure this goes without saying - only send in something you yourself would love to get.  Send your item along with $5.00 for shipping back to youPlease only send cash.
It's hard to put a value minimum or maximum - so the best I can do is tell you items I am considering making for the swap:
earrings, a felted soap, a paper door decoration, a small bird, a hanging pillow, a 5 x 7 photo, an altered jar, a set of note cards, etc......
What do you say - I know there a lot of talented people out there - and some of you even read my blog!  :)  I would love to see what we can do!!!  Hope to hear from you soon....

Fruit and Veggie Smoothies

Last Friday we made Fruit and Veggie Smoothies with the kids at preschool.  I used my recipe - this is what I have for breakfast every morning - it is sooooo yummy!  A HUGE reason I make these is so I can get more veggies eaten in a day.  About half of the kids loved them.  I promise it's wonderful.

1 c. juice - I usually use a combination or orange juice, carrot juice (found in the produce isle not the juice isle), and pomegranate juice
1 c. Plain all natural Greek yogurt or Kefir
2 large handfuls (very large) of fresh spinach
1 banana
5 - 6 whole strawberries
1 c. other berries (I usually use blueberries, blackberries and/or raspberries)
2 Tbsp. flax

Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high.  This makes about 4 cups.

YUM!!!!

If you do not like bananas you can use apples, oranges, or peaches.

Try it and let me know what you think!!!
