So Steve and I finished the Trek up the Tower this morning and it went well. I am glad I did it. My pace was slow and consistant - so I was able to finish and I can still walk!! :) Steve was a lot faster than me - we were both happy witht he outcome and will do it again next year. It was very very well organized and the volunteers were extremely encouraging and helpful! So yea to everyone who worked the event and finished the event!!!

The Best Valentine

I am such a lucky girl!!

My door bell rang at 7:45 am on Valentine's morning - woke me from a lazy morning sleep (the kids and I were all off of school/work). I opened the door and there was a smiling young man with this in his hands. WOW! I thanked him - I guess this was one thing that is worth getting woke up for! I assumed it was from Steve but it was from my - oh so sweet - Dad!!! What a special treat. It truly made my day!!! It totally brought me back to my childhood - every year my dad bought all of us girls (Mom, Jamie, Jodi and I) special Valentine's. I know I always felt so lucky - and I am sure the sisters did as well.
Thanks Dad - it is so beautiful!! Just Perfect!

Ramblings

I was just spending some time reading my old posts and came to these quotes that again I think are so good. Such great reminders - they came from Anna Quindlen's A Short Guide to a Happy Life.

....love the journey, not the destination.....

.......life is not a dress rehearsal...........today is the only guarantee you get.....

......realize that life is glorious, and that you have no business taking it for granted.......

So these are such great DUH! quotes - but why are they so hard to remember - some people have it figured out - I totally applaud you and really envy you - I know it's an easy choice but somes days I am too lazy to feel great. Horribly lame excuse.
I love my life - like the line from the country song:
I love this crazy, tragic, Sometimes almost magic, Awful, beautful life
I sometimes just don't appear to love it - sometimes I forget I love it - I don't want to forget anymore - I only want to feel so super blessed - because I am!!!

Connor turns 10

So Connor turned 10 on Saturday! He had a few friends over for a sleep-over. They played video games and watched movies - ate pizza, cake and ice cream and lots of popcorn. He said they had a very fun time.

Now he is paying the price a bit - not feeling well yesterday and today. Hope he is better soon.

My trail runner - UPDATED

So Steve just called from Kansas City - he finished his 20 mile trail run in under 4 hours - which was his goal! He told me the exact time but I can't remember now what it was....sorry.
He said he is covered from head to toe in mud! I guess it was a muddy mess. Wish I had a picture. He had fun and was glad he did it! YEA Steve!

Update

So Steve made the drive home safely. Here are his shoes:

YEEUCK!!! His feet are sore and he's pretty sure he'll have a few blisters.

This place www.seeKCRun.com is supposed to have pictures up eventually of the run in case you're interested. His bib number was 247. Steve said he knows the photographer got some shots of him - I know I am anxious to see them!!!

Feeling Pink

I so enjoy the color pink - I really do.. Yesterday I decided my wardrobe needed some fresh pieces so I did a bit of shopping.....everything that I brought home was pink - except one little shirt....and MAN were the sales awesome!!! One shirt was $9.00 - how cool.

So this is what I ended up with:

This sweater but in a pretty pink

And this sweater

but in this color:

This:

And a green striped tshirt and a pink and white stripes long sleeve tee - but I am thinking about taking the last three mentioned items back - not sure......

And last week I got pink and grey New Balance tennis shoes for under $30.00

See the theme - pretty in pink - it must be Valentine's

Time flies

She is all grown up now - but I love these oh so carefree pictures of her!!!

So my pyscho husband :) signed up to run the Run Toto Run 20 mile trail run this weekend. We have had a ton of snow around here - and it's supposed to warm up a bit - so I imagine the trails will be a little icky (for lack of a better word). But he's right - what a great accomplishment it will be! GO Steve GO!!! I am so proud of him for working so hard.
He will get up while it's still dark to make it to Kansas City, Kansas in time for the 8:00 start. See where I am geting the psycho???? Anyways.....stay tuned for details on how awesome it was.....

How cool is this

I am:

Yes me!!! How cool is that???? I am so excited. I even get to give a challenge for the members this month - so come on join Feeling Scrappy and do my challenge - who knows - there might even be a cool prize in it for one lucky winner!!!
Thanks Feeling Scrappy!!!

Things that make you go hhhmmmm.....

As we grow as unique persons, we learn to respect the uniqueness of others
~Robert H. Schuller

Rude......in life we all encounter very rude people. It's unfortunate but we do. I do not mean having a different opinion, or different tastes, or different values, or not seeing eye to eye - because that is the nature of being human. I mean just rude!
We all should have a chance to talk, to explain if there has been a misunderstanding, right? I mean, if you misunderstand someone and think they are rude but you don't give them the opportunity to clear things up - then aren't you, too, rude? And two wrongs never make a right!!!
Today was one of those days that I encountered someone who was rude, who wouldn't let me talk or hear me. Someone who, as soon as she heard why I wanted to talk, had made up her mind that she wasn't going to listen - she just decided to be rude. I am honestly saddened that an adult would act this way!
So todays note to self is: always always try your absolute hardest to be respectful, graceful, tactful and just really well mannered! Then - even if your point is allowed to be made - you can walk away with your head held higher because you were:
Respectful
Graceful
Tactful
Well-Mannered

2nd note to self: Chose your words wisely - so you are never misunderstood, so no trouble will come from not getting the opportunity to explain what you really meant - right Macey?

Thanks for listening to me ramble - I just had to write - to make us all think twice - right???? And so I could get over it......:)

Have a truly wonderful day everyone!
