Life at a Glace.....

I saw this on my Char's blog (who is having a really awesome giveaway on her blog - make sure you check it out) - thought it was so cool - so I'm totally copying!

one hour ago:  I was walking through Nebraska Furniture Mart, a date of sorts for Steve and I - nice to hang out just the two of us.

one day ago:  Just sitting down for dinner at Famous Dave's.  Nice to have someone else cook.

one week ago:  I was creating like crazy - happy with all the possibilities of art....

one month ago: I was thrilled to be in Miles City with all of my family starting the Christmas festivities.

one year ago: Talking about planning a trip to Vegas with my sisters.  Scrapbooking a lot.  Thinking deep - trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grow up.

one decade ago:  I was just 22 - still living in Butte, Montana married 3 1/2 years with an almost two year old and an 8 year old.  Struggling a bit with all my roles - being in college married with two kids was tough business.
--------
one hour from now: I will be eating dinner.

one day from now:  I will be creating something fun - because creating is where it is at.....

one week from now:  I will relaxing, enjoying the down time of the weekend with the fam....probably creating a bit more.

one month from now:  I will be trying something new - because I want to try something new every month....so I can broaden my horizons - grow as a person.

one year from now:   I will have grown as a person, I will keep seeking and finding new ways to be a better me, I will be a little more comfortable with me....I will still be creating and loving this family like crazy.

one decade from now: Xander will be a senior so we will be planning for that.  I could possibly be a grandma - Nanny Stacey and Papa Steve we will be, since Macey will be 27.  Connor will 22 and just finishing up college.  I will still be creating and still growing and still loving my family fiercely.

Makes me a bit sappy thinking about how quickly time has flown and will continue to fly - that is why we need to live our lives to the fullest...

Here's a reminder.....

Ummm...sorry

(said like Gilly)
Wow - I was doing so good posting away and then nothing for 9 days.  I guess going back to work make me not want to blog?!?!
It was a good week - the weather was pretty pleasant - snows melting - a little.  It was good being back at work - such sweet kiddoes.
On the creative side of things I have started another clay creation - trying to make a little girl....she's getting there - love working with the clay.

I also ordered some wool roving so I can do some wet felting - what a cool process.  I have been watching you tube video after you tube video after you tube video and reading as much as I can about this cool art.....so I will show the finished projects once supplies have been recieved.

I was thinking we should do an ART SWAP.....would I have any takers????  We could go with a theme and then crafters/artists of all media could participate - knitters, crocheters, jewelry designers, poets, photographers, paper artists, quilters, sewers, etc. etc.  Heck even if I had one taker that would be enough - we could trade.  It would just be great fun to see what others are creating.
How about a THEME of LOVE.
It's the 18th today - comment and let me know if you are interested.
DUE DATE: FEBRUARY 2nd (which means they need to be in my hands by the 2nd - sent out using PRIORITY MAIL by the 29th of JANUARY)
All items will be swapped and sent back out by the 5th - that way everyone could recieve their items by Valentines day.
Ok the nitty gritty details - BEST WORK ONLY - and I am sure this goes without saying - only send in something you yourself would love to get.  Send your item along with $5.00 for shipping back to youPlease only send cash.
It's hard to put a value minimum or maximum - so the best I can do is tell you items I am considering making for the swap:
earrings, a felted soap, a couple felted pebbles, a paper door decoration for valentines, a small bird, a hanging heart pillow, a 5 x 7 photo, an altered jar, a set of note cards, etc......
What do you say - I know there a lot of talented people out there - and some of you even read my blog!  :)  I would love to see what we can do!!!  Hope to hear from you soon....

Guess what?

We have another snow day!!!  :)  See the snow drift behind the boys (the one that is taller than Xander) - that is our yard which is flat - not a hill.  That is how much snow we have - looks like a ski town around here.  The fence in the backyard that we hope contains Sadie - well there is so much snow that if it holds her weight (it's getting pretty crusty) she could just walk right out over the top of it.

Anywho.....this means more time for acting silly:

And lots of time to create!  Yesterday I made scones from scratch!

I have been wanting to make scones from scratch forever - I have never done it before - don't know why.  Let me tell you - if you want your house to smell terrific before guests come - this is the thing to bake.  It was like heaven.  And by the way - easy.  I made plain and blueberry and I love them.  Xander and Macey? Maybe not so much - but I think Connor and Steve like them.  Look how pretty they are:

I enjoyed one for breakfast with my coffee - there are plenty left if you want to come over and join me!!!  :)

AND I am so excited to show you my finished bird - I am in LOVE!!!  This was the funnest thing to make ever!

Meet Fiona:

Isn't she just about the sweetest little thing ever!

It's been a productive week!  I may or may not have spent the majority of my time in my pjs - in the house - but I have done a lot - I have already tried a few new things - so my resolution of trying something new every month is working!

New things tried this month:

1.  Sculpting (well sort of)

2.  Painting on canvas

3.  Bird Making :)

4.  Scones from Scratch

I still want to know what you are up to.....please share.

So today I am working on more of these:

Hope you are all having a super productive - silly - in your pjs kind of day!  Stay warm!

Snow Day Number 5

Well we are home again today - snow day!!!  Woohoo - unfortunately this means the district has used up the built in snow days so we will be taking away from out summer break...Our kids have been off for 3 weeks now and they have a lot of energy that needs to be burned off - that PE class is calling their names.  But they are really enjoying the break.

So yesterday I got around to making an adorable little bird out of sculpey (just a sneak peak - when I am done painting and adding wings and embellishments I will share the whole thing)

I painted two hearts cut out of canvas material - I mixed a few colors and brayered them - which is such a FUN way to paint/mix colors (I will be making several of these and then turning them into a pretty little valentines banner)

And we played connect 4.  No cleaning or bop it - I guess I did shovel my driveway and a pathway on our deck for our Sadie-girl - but again it was a lazy good day.  It's so cold outside - it's such a huge blessing to be so warm inside.

What did you do???

Today I am finishing the above bird and making more canvas hearts - and some canvas birds - and scrapbooking.  I would also like to play bop-it - cause it's fun and silly!

What about you??  I do hope you are enjoying your day!

How about a recipe?

I made a scrumpdillyish dinner last night!  (basically a stir fry)  Thought you might want to make it too!

Ingredients:

cooking spray
1 - 2 tbsp minced garlic
4 c. broccoli (I just used a large bunch -  cut into smaller pieces)
3 c. carrot chips (these come precut in a bag - side note here - these are so GOOD!!!  I will be buying them each time I go to the store and setting them on the counter for us to snack on - they are like a chip - only much better for you - and the kids LOVE carrots)
1 tsp. onion powder (I didn't have any green onions - but still wanted a bit of the onion flavor - next time I will cut up a bunch of green onions)
1 box of thin spaghetti, cooked
4 tbsp. soy sauce - I recommend low sodium
2 tbsp. cooking wine - I used a white wine
1/2 c. - 1 c. pasta water

Cook garlic, carrots, broccoli and onion powder in a skillet coated with cooking spray until desired doneness (is that a word - spell check says no).  I like my veggies still crisp.  Then add in the soy sauce, wine and pasta water - cook a couple mintues more then add pasta.  Mix well and serve!
SO easy - so good - everyone likes this.  I like that this was a no meat dish - it was just as satisfying but a tad easier - BUT this would also be great with beef strips or chicken or pork or shrimp.....
Also to mine I added red pepper flakes to make it nice and spicy!!!

I hope you try it - if you do let me know what you think.

I wish I would have taken a photo last night but instead I remembered when I was almost done with leftovers for lunch:

Happy Wednesday....

Well...this is the sweetest little guy ever!  Hope this makes you smile!!

Christmas is officially over...

...at the Curry house.  I finally took down Christmas.  This pile has been sitting next to our front door for a couple of days now....I just couldn't get motivated.

Probably because I will miss my sweet little pieces of holiday happiness, like my little reindeer - this was my moms when I was little - and I was the lucky one who ended up with it when mom didn't want it anymore.  I love it.  It is my FAVORITE!

And I love my snowmen - like this one.

I even thought about keeping them up for a month or so - but then I would have to haul out the holiday boxes again to pack them away.  So I will move right into Valentine's decorating.  Which is fun too.

Tomorrow we are all back to school.  I have so enjoyed the lazy - schedule free days - but I do love my job!  Truly LOVE it.  I still can't believe how lucky I got in getting this job.  It is a such a treat every day!  And I miss those little ones.  They are just so sweet!  And by the way - they SPOILED me this Christmas - like crazy spoiled.  When I went in Monday to help get the school cleaned up - my boss showed an amazing pile of loot.  Check this out:

I could hardly believe it!  I feel so blessed!  (not pictured in the most scrumptious loaf of bread I have ever eaten!!!  :)  It was a cinnamon swirl bread from the FarmHouse - you must go get a loaf)

Anywho...as I said Christmas is over and my house is getting a good cleaning - 4 rooms down - 6 to go.  (Purging is a good thing.  I have a HUGE pile of scrappy goods that I am getting rid of - feels good I had soooooo much stuff that I have had for years - thinking I just might use it - this was the year to pass it on to someone else.)  Guess the other 6 rooms will get spread out over the next week - the 4 rooms I did have taken me two days.  :)

In creative news I did get my heart gussied up - I think it is looking cute:

What do you think???  Should I leave it as is or does it need something more??  Wings would be divine (that's a great word) we'll see.  Made anything new lately???  I would love to see - just let me know where to look.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day my friends!!  Visit with you later....

by the way - we just a got a call from the superintendent - school has been canceled for tomorrow - so one more lazy schedule free day spent doing whatever we want - under 8 inches of new snow (that is on top of the 18 inches we already have).  Bop it might be fun - and connect four - and scrapbooking and I really want to paint - and make sculpey clay doo-dads with Xander - only one day though.  Think I can fit it all in....stay safe and warm dear friends!

A few favorites from Christmas

Saturday, January 2, 2010

Hello friends...

Well well well....It's Saturday - and it is cold here...my computer says -4* (that is minus four degrees).  Yeeiicks - we should sled but that is too cold.  We really could just sled in our front yard the drifts are big enough.
Steve is at work today - which sort of stinks - but I understand he's got to do what he's got to do.  :)  He was home with us all day yesterday - which was most enjoyable.
So how was your New Year's?  What was done?
We had a very nice dinner at Charleston's on New Year's Eve.
New Year's Day - lazy morning.  Then Steve and I went out to do a little shopping - there were some great sales - for both Steve and I!  Then our big fancy New Year's Day dinner was............pizza and bread sticks from Papa John's and hot wings from Wild Buffalo Wings!  I think this is the first year in a very long time I haven't made a really nice New Year's Dinner - I felt a bit like a scrounge - but I am pretty sure that the family was just as happy - we love our pizza!
Are you still there?  Kind of rambling a bit...
Thinkin' about creating today - maybe some scrapbook pages - maybe some sewing.
I started this before I left for montana - now I need to finish/embellish it...I like it's roughness.  Now how to embellish it....any ideas?????

So what creative endeavors are you thinking of this year?  Any challenges or swaps?  Anybody interested in a challenge here?  I really need to revamp my blogging and I want to know what I should include.  I think challenges are always fun - and giveaways are always fun.  What about a challenge with a prize???  What about a really open challenge?  Like maybe a word or a color scheme or a quote - this means you could be a sewer, a cross stitcher, a scrapbooker, a card maker, a jewelry designer, a baker, an artist, a knitter, a crocheter - anything and still participate - as long as you follow the prompt.  It would be fun to see the creative things people come up with.  Are you interested???  Oh I hope you will join me - if this is the first time you have ever been to my blog - I would love it if you just jump on in!  Think of the fun we could all have together!!!  Creative energy shared would be fabulous!!!
Thank for stopping in my beautiful friends - hope you are having a terrific day!
